A key thread running through the work from the beginning has been the concept of escapism, in particular escaping from reality. Leading on from this I started to think about the world of dreams and what that place looks like and offers. I concluded that dreams provide the wakeful sleeper with a liminal space: a place where the lines of time and reality become less distinct and sometimes blurred, perhaps even offering their recipient a doorway into a new world. In this way the bed now symbolises a mode of transport across this liminal space and is a constant throughout the work.
