The Rothiemurchus pine forest is situated in the Cairngorms National Park and is one of Scotland's few remaining ancient caledonian pine forests. I was drawn to the artistic form created by these ancient tree trunks and felt very small in this large expanse of wild forest.

I was aiming for an image which encompassed the nature of the place whilst exuding notions of serenity and a place worthy of escaping to in a daydream. The muted colour palette was more a result of the weather than a considered choice although I feel it enhances the aesthetic overall.
