This years Format Festival was one like no other. Thousands of people usually descend on Derby for the incredible international festival which takes place across the city every two years. I had the privilege of attending the 2019 festival and viewed over thirty different artists work in the space of a weekend.
This year the thousands sat on their sofas or at their desks and enjoyed a virtual showcase. I was able to attend an all day conference as part of the festival and heard from a number of contemporary photographers. The virtual exhibition space was called new arts city and could be navigated by the viewer making it a really interactive experience.
I look forward with anticipation to the 2023 Festival when I hope everyone will be able to be in person viewing physical work once again.
